Everyone this is my first time blogging and it should be a learning experience for me. Hopefully you will enjoy reading about my cooking experiences with indian spices...
As an Indian woman and the oldest of 5 siblings I was taught to cook and care for my family starting at a very young age of 7. Actually it was my grandfather that really pushed me to cook and truly enjoyed eating my meals in whatever way, shape or form they were presented. Meaning burned or not he would eat it and always say it was tasty. When I traveled across the East to the West, my silver masala daba filled with colorful spices, travelled with me and continue to fill my new home with the smell of spices that reminded me of me home back there. The masala daba is an Indian woman’s toolbox. For me cooking is not just about food, it is about sharing my love for my family and friends. As a mother raising children in the west I had to experiment with all sorts of foods I hadn’t known before. Now 30+ years later, with my kids all grown up, I want to share my toolkit of creations with others via this thing called a blog. Please enjoy this mother’s masala daba.
